Aug 15, 2016. #1. Ok so I found a tutorial on how to hard-mod a micro usb port into a GBA SP so you can charge it with most everyday phone chargers. However, I was wondering if it might also, in the same sense, be possible to add in a USB port, allowing you to connect a USB drive. If you were to rewire the game slot to the USB port, would I chose it as I noticed folks were adding micro usb ports [to their SPs] and this outputs ~5v 500ma (typical USB smartphone charger) and has a smaller footprint from other QI diy kits. I guess other chargers heat up more due to fast charging, different amp output, or poor quality components. 2. Charging port doesn’t work. Buttons work except shoulder buttons doesn’t seem to work.
