Feb 25, 2008. #1. I have a punto mk1 1.2 and have found my fual economy has gone right down, I have spoken to a few people and they seem to think its my lambda sensor. I cant see anything physically wrong with the car, just that my fuel economy is down to below 30mpg and thats when driving carefully. Only performance mod I have on car is a K&N

Jul 13, 2016. #4. Don't worry it does get better with some miles on the car. The engine is a bit thirsty but that is a result of it being a bit sporty. Mine has 10000 miles on it now and I get about 35mpg around town set on auto and slightly less set on sport. On a run I get about 45 -48 mpg.
