Vanilla DMC 4 is a good game, but not exactly a great game as it feels a bit undercooked. DMC 4: SE still has those issues, but unlike vanilla it has plenty of varied mechanics and combat to make up for it. The original release is still good and kept many of us interested for 7 years or so, but it's somewhat lacking as a full experience.
That's just plain wack. I think it might be time for a inquisition. Devil May Cry 3, mostly because of the story (which is my favorite in the saga), the puzzles (which are a good breather between fights), the style, the cast of characters (I love each member of the cast) and a nearly perfect balance of everything. After that came dmc 5 with the same combos for nero so upgrading the exceed ability to full first of all was a no brainer for me. It also gives a good boost to your style meter. If you're using a ds3/4 or xbox controller assign the exceed to the shoulder (L1/LB) button instead of the L2/LT button cause the deadzone may mess up your timings.
