The first sniper is the m-700 fastest way to unlock it it's play story until you liberate your first outpost then use the gyro copter to fly towards all the belltowers then jump out on top of them. It takes a little practice to figure out the angles but it lets you liberate then pretty fast when you get it down.

I know the Barrett .50 Cal aka AS50 is the best. I was trying to get an idea as to what to invest in early on. I bought the Homeland shotgun and it totally wasn't worth it. The Springfield Sniper is nice; the silent MP5 is a monster weapon. I just bought the M79 grenade launcher because I didn't realize it was a secondary weapon.
