Connect one wire from the new light to the single. Connect the other to the wire without yellow on it at the double connector.
Finaly took the time to look into the overhead lights and went ahead and moded it. First this is an 07 ZX3 not sure if the older or newer ones are the same or not. Use a flat head and pry the clip in the front of the light assembly you can see a little slot where the flat head needs to go in to press the clip in. Pry it forward tward the window.
its a 2010 focus zetec s Mk2.5 stop start from what i understand looking at it the courtesy lights are not run by the gem unit as the switchs are hard mechnical lights. you have 1 ground and 2 12 V then the switch seems to go 12v to gound , 12v(controlled by something) to ground, ground to ground.

if the boots wet also then itt could be the lid isnt aligned correctly or the lights or spoiler is leaking remove the plastic cover inside the boot that covers the spoiler bolts if its leaking youll see water or signs of. Had it checked by a mate the leak in the boot was due to boot not aligned so that's sorted.
