It is an 8v engine though, the 16v 1.2 made 85hp and was an interference engine. I believe all the 1.2 8v engine were non-interference up until 2005 when they put VVT on the exhaust valves. As previously stated the 1.2 16v is an interference engine. The 1.4 8v & 16v are also interference but these were never available for the mk1 Punto anyway

None, if not MINOR, body cutting and no change of gearbox and drive shafts. I've got the idea that a 1.4 16V punto engine is pretty much a direct swap. 10mm Socket on a ratchet. 10mm inverted star socket. 50-100mm ratchet extension. non inverted star key set. CarbCleaner (CC) or brake cleaner. Toothbrush. 1. Remove the 3 x 10mm bolts securing the airbox to the engine. 2. 7BVl4.
