It is just a DisplayPort connection. If the USB port supports DisplayPort 1.2, then you can get a single 4K 60 Hz monitor, two 1440p 60 Hz monitors or 1080p 144 Hz monitors, or four 1080p 60 Hz monitors. If it supports DP 1.3, then it supports whatever DP 1.3 supports. Thanks Glenwing, that cleared things up! 0.
I chose this monitor specifically for the USB-C functionality and I really like being able to connect my laptop to the monitor using only 1 cable while charging it, too. I've noticed though that the laptop can become quite hot. Will keeping the laptop connected over long periods via USB-C damage my laptop (battery or other components)?
Some monitors that support Thunderbolt 4 have more than one USB-C connector at the rear, so they can connect to a PC while the second port does something else, like daisy chaining the signal to a second screen. The monitor can also become a USB hub, with conventional USB ports that connect peripherals like a mouse and external keyboard.

The HDMI port successfully allows one external monitor as expected, but the USB Type-C to HDMI cable I am trying to use which uses the Display Port Alt protocol cannot display the monitor, I have changed monitors and tried the cable on another laptop that successfully runs a monitor from USB Type-C and the monitor and cable both work.

My monitors have HDMI outputs, but the problem that my laptop USB C port does not support display, so I am connecting one monitor to my laptop with HDMI output, but I want to connect two monitors. (I don't necessarily need my laptop monitor though for display).

For reference: This question relates to a wearable device which connects via USB-C, and must be fed a video signal and powered by the device it is connected to.For this device and others like it, the only options to use it (without some intermediate device as described in my question) would be certain phones and laptops which can output video and power via their USB-C port.

Attaching Multiple Monitors to a USB-C Hub. Although connecting numerous displays to a USB-C hub is a simple process, there are a few details to remember. You'll require cords compatible with your monitors and hub, such as an HDMI or DisplayPort connection. To use multiple displays, you must first connect the hub to your device's USB-C Some monitors can connect USB devices without USB-C connections; but they require an upstream USB cable from the PC/docking station to the monitor. Check the manual for your monitor if you can. It might still help you clear up your wires, if you can move multiple USB devices from dock/laptop to the monitor. true. o926OHW.
